He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred Vardaman Sims and Cassie Catherine Cotton Sims; his sister Angeline Sims Holmes; his wife Bettye Dean; and his son Greg.
He is survived by: his children, Mike (Elaine Bowers), Michele (Tom Smither) and David (Tracy Salverson); his grandchildren, Lauren Smither (Joe Barkley), Mary Smither Malear (Grant), Jennifer Smither, Nathan Sims and Ryan Sims; his pet Streak; and also Cameron Malear.
