He was predeceased by: his father Joseph Edward Newman Sr. (Patricia "Patti" Newman). He is survived by: his mother Jean Newman; and his siblings, Dianne Brown (Jim), Rita Fritz (David) and Joey Newman (Cherry). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Born Again Baptist Church.
