He was predeceased by: his parents, Norman Thayer and Estelle Thayer; and his wife Ruby Thayer. He is survived by: his children, Wayne Thayer, Norman Thayer, Lynn Jones (Chris), Andrea Milford (Hugh) and Crystal Crowe (Ben). He is also survived by nine grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
