He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmon Harris and Gladys Betha Bivens Harris; and his siblings, Jewel Thomas, Kathleen Adams, J. L. Britton and Charlie Britton.
He is survived by: his wife Bonnie Hargrove Harris; his children, Jeff Russey (Sherri), Angela Whitten (Michael), Chrystal Nolan (Evan) and Amanda Harris (Sommer Bales); and his sister Shirley Collins. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
