She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Monroe Hill and Janell Gray Hill. She is survived by: her husband Fred Fortson; her children, Roger Wade Spencer, Christopher Fortson, Cory Fortson and Shawna Janell Hollifield; and her siblings, Robert Monroe Hill, II, Denise McGill and Sheila Finney. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and other relatives.
