He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe Alton Shirley and Geneva Thomas Shirley; and his brother Richard Shirley. He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Turner Shirley; his children, Neal Shirley of Anderson, SC, John Shirley of Toccoa, GA and Stefanie Shirley of Martin, GA; and his brothers, Russell Shirley of Lavonia, GA and Mark Shirley of Greenville, SC. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
