He was predeceased by: his wife Helen Christie Chance. He is survived by: his children, R. L. Chance (Sandra Skipper) and Brenda Arnold (Donnie); his grandchildren, Chris Chance (Melissa), Scott Arnold, Shawn Arnold (Heather), Kim Scott (Scotty), Lee Chance (Lindsay), Daniel Arnold (Madison), Alan Skipper and Phil Skipper; and his siblings, Dorothy Kindle, Dena Billings (Russell), Levert Chance (Hilda), Walter Chance, Robert Chance (Deborah) and Russell Chance (Helen). He is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
