He was predeceased by: his son John Ray Burke; his siblings, Jimmie Burke, Johnny Burke, Jan Riggs and Joyce Alderman; and his grandchild Sunshine.

He is survived by: his former wife Beth Burke; his children, John Underwood (Amanda) of Guyton, Jonathan Burke, Nathaniel Burke of Springfield, Elizabeth Burke of Texas and Karen Underwood Spencer (Steve) of Missouri; his siblings, Jackie Burke (Linda) of Savannah, Julian Burke of Savannah, Joe Burke and Judy Burke of Savannah; his grandchildren, Stone Underwood, Hayden Underwood, Rachel Spencer, Joey Spencer and Christopher Burke; and his close friend Randy Lynn of Hinesville. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
