He was predeceased by: his father Melvin E. Smithey; his son Jonathan Gregory Smithey; his sister Theresa K. Smithey; and his parents-in-law, James and Mary Sapp.
He is survived by: his mother Rose Belk Rahn; his daughters, Alicia Dianna Smithey and Rebecca Smithey Zeigler; his son-in-law Jeremy Brian Zeigler; his granddaughters, Makayla Madison Zeigler, Reagan Mackenzie Zeigler and Paisley Grace Smithey; his son Jamey E. Smithey (Melissa); and his grandsons, Alex, Tyler, Dillon, Gavin and Palmer.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to The Baptist Church at Ebenezer, 2401 Ebenezer Road, Rincon, GA 31326 for their rebuild.
