He was predeceased by: his parents, John Perry Cone and Lillian Elizabeth Cone Finch; his wife Merle Pittman Cone; and his brother John P. Cone. He is survived by: his children, Melanie Cone McCall (David), Shelba Cone Kieffer (Allen), Charles E. Hodges (Tammy), Bill Hodges (Debbie), Mitchel Hodges and Kellie Hodges Annas (Robert); his grandchildren, Benjamin Nutting (Trish), Christopher Kieffer (Mattie), Allison Kieffer Rahn (Zeke), Benjamin Hodges, Joshua Hodges, Amy Powell, Jennifer Groves, Mitch Hodges, Shawn Hodges, Michael Deal, Anthony Hodges, Gabe Hodges and Jessica Kile; his great grandchildren, Damon Nutting, Mason Nutting and Hollynn Rahn; and his sisters, Lisa Dean (Eddie) and Cyndy Cone. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 23rd 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home, Effingham Chapel (2460 GA-21, Rincon, GA 31326). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 23rd 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
