He is survived by: his spouse Medina Blackmon Oates; his children, Jalyncia Oates, Rhonda Flowers, Brania Higgs, Quemiah Oates and Yahya Oates; his mother Evelyn Oates; and his siblings, Deborah Underwood (Reggie), Ratasha Monroe (Robert), Byran Oates (Kerri) and Tena Faircloth. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives.
