He was predeceased by: his daughter Renee Hughes; his parents, James Elmer Trent and Dearbara Ruby Trent; and his brother Dallas Trent. He is survived by: his wife Sharon Whitmer Trent of Martinez, GA; his children, Phil, Karen Whitmer of Fayetteville, GA and Lee Whitmer of Augusta, GA; his siblings, Norma Wykle, Glenda Ramsey and Jake Trent (Geraldine); his grandchildren, Rachel, Franklin Reeder, Jessica, Matt Melnyczuk, Ben, Mariah Whitmer, Emma Whitmer, Nick and Molly Whitmer; his great grandchildren, Margaret Whitmer and Kira Melnyczuk; and his close friends, Dennis Byrd, David Edens and Schultz Hill Auto Glass.
