He was predeceased by: his parents, Michael Cavanaugh and Anna Cavanaugh (Brown); his siblings, Michael Francis Cavanaugh, Albert Orville Cavanaugh and Bettie Marie Bryan; his wife Ruth Mary Cavanaugh (Donald); his sons, Charles Thomas Cavanaugh Jr. and Donald Lee Cavanaugh; and his daughter-in-law Linda Kay Heffelfinger Cavanaugh.

He is survived by: his brother Raymond Cavanaugh (Dixie) of Lafayette; his son Dennis (Carol); his daughters-in-law, Shirley Cavanaugh (Turner) of Ft, Sharon Cavanaugh (Reed) of Tecumseh, MO and Lisa (Isbell-Rousch) of Lafayette; and his grandchildren, Charles Thomas Cavanaugh III (Nadine), Kimberly Marie Cavanaugh, Nicholas Robert Cavanaugh (Jessica), Donald Lee Cavanaugh (Sue), William Michael Cavanaugh, Christopher Daniel Cavanaugh (Melody), Erin Gilbert (Matthew) of Lafayette, Dennis Bray of Lafayette, Crystal Marie Hanson (Tomas) of Atlanta, GA, Candance Turcotte (Steven) and Sabrina Coleman (Chris). He is also survived by 22 Great Grandchildren.
