He was predeceased by: his parents, Lillian Bethea Helton and John McSwain Helton; and his brothers, John, Michael and Richard. He is also survived by nephews, along with their extended families.

A graveside service was held on Friday, November 22nd 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Oak Hill Cemetery (797 Memorial Dr, Griffin, GA 30223).

“My daughter and I have known Mr. Tommy for only two years, as he was my father's roommate at the nursing home. She always called him "Tommy Man," and when he was feeling sick, she would ask to pray for him before bed each night. He was such a precious person- always smiling, kind and sweet.
