With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of John Porter of Griffin, Georgia, born in Newnan, Georgia, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on September 14, 2024 at the age of 75. He was predeceased by: his parents, Amos James Porter and Odell Garrison Porter; and his siblings, Elizabeth Horton, Steve Porter and Eddie Porter (Lynn).
He is survived by: his wife Kathleen Porter; his daughters, Jennifer Porter Herbert of Evans and Brandy Nicole Porter of Evans, Georgia; his grandchildren, Kaitlyn Rachel Herbert and Ashlyn Elizabeth Herbert; his siblings, Mark Porter (Robin), Phillip Porter (Nerina) and Rebecca Bradley (Doug); and his nieces and nephews, Shane, Chad, Will, Seth, Lucas, Brandon, Kim, Terry McAfee, Shelah, Hannah and Denise.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 20th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Mowell Funeral Home and Cremation Service - Fayetteville (180 N Jeff Davis Dr, Fayetteville, GA 30214). A funeral service was held on Friday, September 20th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home (180 N Jeff Davis Dr, Fayetteville, GA 30214).
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in John David's name to the Georgia War Verterans Residents Fund, 1101 15th Street, Augusta, Georgia, 30901.
