He was predeceased by: his parents, Dewey S. Helms and Rossie Mildred Helms; his siblings, Bo Helms, Edward Helms and Polly Cone (Gladys Crosby); and his wife Cindy Helms.
He is survived by: his sisters, Thelma Chambley and Velma Patton; and his children, Misty Clay (Jeff), Mindy Hunt and James Loyd. He is also survived by five grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
