He was predeceased by: his wife Emily Lindsey Smith; his siblings, Walter Smith, Jr., Reese Smith, William Smith and Frances Lanier; and his parents, Walter Smith, Sr. and Meda Strickland Smith.
He is survived by: his children, Debra Smith, Leanne Moncrief and Lane Moncrief; his granddaughters, Elizabeth Moncrief and Rachel Moncrief; and his siblings, Richard Smith and Beth Williams. He is also survived by brothers-in-law, and nieces and nephews.
