He was predeceased by: his parents, Alvin Edward Clayton and Ellie Mae Phelps Finch (Nell); and his sister Patricia Ann Abraham (Abe). He is survived by: his pet Oscar; his wife Ellen Byrd Clayton; his children, Chaelle Clayton Ince (Dave) of Steamboat Springs, CO, Chuck Clayton (Jennifer) of Woodstock, GA and Johnny Eason (Lorraine) of Waxhaw, NC; and his grandsons, Chase, Chandler (Clayton), Eli and Hank (Ince).

Donations in Charlie's name can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or to St. Jude Children's, Research Hospital.
