He was predeceased by: his parents, John Newell McDuffie, Sr. and Agnes Mae Wright McDuffie; his brother Gerald McDuffie (Judy); and his son-in-law Billy M. Phillips, Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Helen McDuffie; his children, Dianne McDuffie Phillips, Patricia Elaine McDuffie Johnson and John Newell McDuffie, III (Terry); his grandchildren, Amanda Brown (Anthony), Bonnie Calkin (Daniel), Billy Phillips, III (Emily), Heather Long (Charlie), Nicholas Johnson, Jeremy Johnson (Stephanie), John McDuffie, IV (Carrie), Lea Molzen (JJ), Tara Burke (David) and Daniel Frazier (Tiffany); and his sister Sandra Fanning. He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren.
