He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Dyes and Delores Dyes; his wife Alice Newman Dyes of October; his father-in-law Ernest Newman; and his siblings, Thomas Dyes, Charles Dyes and Juanita Willis.

He is survived by: his sisters, Janette Nalley (Henry) of Conyers and Carol Morgan (Cecil) of Newnan; his children, DeeDee Buttram (Mark) of Ragland, Rebecca Selleck (Matthew) of Sharpsburg and Clifford Dyes II of Grantville; and his grandchildren, Phoenix Buttram, Dakota Buttram, Clifford Dyes III, Lily Dyes and Thomas Selleck.
