He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, James Lonnie McCoy and Frances Puckett McCoy; his wife Connie Starr McCoy of Gordon; his daughter Brandy McCoy of Milledgeville; his stepchildren, Joshua Register (Brandi) of Milledgeville, Floyd Peavy, Jr. (Lyshun) of Sparta, Tasha Harrington and Brittany King (Shon) of Milledgeville; his siblings, Mike McCoy and Tammy M. Nichols of Wilkinson County; his grandchildren, R. J. Burgamy, D. J., Brandon, Alissa, Boom, Ka'mya, Allen, Ayden, Daph, Jackson, Cheyenne and Heaven; and his nephew Justin Nichols.
