He was predeceased by: his parents, Rufus Johnson and Jessie Cheatwood Johnson; and his son-in-law Larry Petty. He is survived by: his wife Melvie Newborn Johnson of Calhoun; his children, Glenda Petty and Wendell Johnson; his sisters, Erlene Pesnell (Chester) and Mildred Harper (Jesse); his grandchildren, Nathan Petty, Jamie Petty, Chris Petty and Natasha Petty; and his great grandchildren, Jeremiah Petty, Matthew Petty, Michaella Petty, Isabella Petty, Jessie Petty, Christopher Petty and Lance Petty.
