He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Gailey and Fannie Mae Gailey (Gilstrap); his former wife Helen Gailey (Dayton); his sister Emelyn (Gailey); his brothers-in-law, Madole Glover and Lester Hurley; his nephew Jerry Glover; his niece Diane Rorabaugh (Hurley); and his siblings-in-law, Sue Turner (Dayton) and Dr. Sam F. Dayton.

He is survived by: his wife Roberta Gailey (Watkins) of Gillsville; his granddaughter Ana Gailey of Ball Ground; his stepdaughter Kathy (Richard Sullivan) of Gillsville; his stepgranddaughter Lisa Lewis of Maysville; his sister Frances Hurley of Gainesville; his sister-in-law Beth Dayton (Mauney) of Gainesville; and his nieces and nephews, Mike and Pat Long of Gainesville. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
