He is survived by: his mother Mary Belle Savage Echols of Gillsville; his wife Sandra Strickland Whitfield of Gillsville; his children, Amy Whitfield of Cornelia, Chris Burnett of Gillsville and Tonya McClure; his brother Billy Whitfield (Brenda) of Gillsville; his grandchildren, Blake Burnett (Chelsea Anderson), Tucker McClure, Bella McClure and Sarah Riggins; and his friend Matthew Hurst.
