He was predeceased by: his parents, Edwin Carlson and Loretta Carlson; his wife Doris Dahlin Carlson; and his siblings, Richard Carlson and Jane Foster.

He is survived by: his children, Steve (Kim Carlson), Jim Carlson of Gainesville, Bill (Julie Carlson), Sandy (Stan Williams) and Betty (Dana Hurlbut). He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 1 great great-grandchild.
