It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Sarah Elizabeth Martin in Gainesville, Georgia, born in Monticello, Georgia, who passed away on January 20, 2025, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Garnett Adams and Bessie Mathis Adams. She is survived by: her children, Melinda Cheryl Hawkins and John Hawkins (Karen); her grandchildren, Chris Hawkins, Kevin Hawkins (Snow), Ashley Robinson (Kurtis), Amy Schutt, Abigail Chesnut (Johnny) and Russell Chesnut (Ivy); her siblings, Jeannie Dempsey (David), Sara Ann Turner, Pearly Mae Score (Dave), Lucy Ogden (Floyd), Ruby Watson, JC Adams (Rosie) and Johnny Adams; her brother-in-law Carlton Sears; her son Jeffery Hawkins; and her sisters, Patricia Scarborough, Minnie Lee Sorrow, Eider Bell Sears and Willie Mae Farmer.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 23rd 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Ivie Funeral Home (1053 S Elm St, Commerce, GA 30529). A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 24th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
