He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Allen Murphy and Mettie Murphy (Poole); his wife Mildred Murphy (Venable); his sister Regina Williams (Murphy); his parents-in-law, Okie and Lottie Venable of Jefferson, GA; his brother-in-law Okie Venable, Jr. of Jefferson, GA; his brother George; his sisters-in-law, Frances Venable of Athens, GA and Erene Dell Venable of Jefferson, GA; his brother Charles; and his siblings-in-law, Betty Jo Bowden (Venable) and Cecil Venable of Jefferson, GA.
He is survived by: his daughters, Pam Grant of Commerce, GA and Diane; his son-in-law Randall Smith of Hoschton, GA; his son Joel; his daughter-in-law Misty Murphy of Gainesville, GA; his grandchildren, T. J. and Sydnee Murphy of Gainesville, GA; his sister Renelda; and his brother-in-law Carroll Gatch of Grand Island, FL. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
