He is survived by: his wife Patricia Suggs; his children, Merlin Hartwell Suggs, Jr., Karen Suggs Underwood, Kitty Suggs Waldrep, Susan Suggs Turner and Trey Hogan; and his brother Maurice Suggs. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren.
