He was predeceased by: his parents, John Stanton Smith and Jackie Miller Smith Harrison; his brother Stan Smith; and his stepfather David "Bud" Harrison. He is survived by: his wife Angel Archer Smith; his son Austin Akin (Margaret); his grandchild Riley; his sons, Kyle Smith and Eric Akin (Kimberly); his grandchild Emersyn; his sons, John Lewis Smith (Anna) and Trent Smith; his nephew Stanton Smith; his sisters, Lynn Smith, Dana Graham and Lanette Beaver (Jasper); and his cousins, Mark Walker and Aneka McReady. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles.

Lewis's contribution to the world of recovery cannot be overstated.
