He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Carpenter and Lina Burgess Carpenter. He is survived by: his wife Betty Sue Carpenter (Hawkins) of Gainesville; his children, Mark (Marti Carpenter), Nancy (Tommy Hulsey), Kim (Steve Abrams), Barbara (Jeff Clement) and Chris (Janice Carpenter); and his sister-in-law Joanne Hawkins of Gainesville. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and their 9 spouses, 22 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson.
