It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of John Barnes (Gainesville, Georgia), born in Athens, Georgia, who passed away on May 16, 2018, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. He is survived by: his daughter Susan Carter; his sister Emily Porter of Athens; and his siblings-in-law, Ruth Barnes of Mansfield, Jeanette Thompson and John Simmons. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
