He is survived by: his wife Jean Pruett Garrett of Gainesville; his daughter Sonya Justus of Gainesville; his sisters, Vivian Conley of Blairsville, Bessie Brown of Blairsville, Evelyn Shook of Blairsville and Bertha Powers of Dahlonega; his granddaughter Elizabeth Thompson (Daniel); his great grandchild Knox Thompson; and his grandsons, Lawrence Barrett and Scott Justus. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
