He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter Steele and Elizabeth Steele; and his siblings, Lillian Wrenn, Peter Steele and Walter Steele.

He is survived by: his wife Karen Steele; his children, Janet, Clifford Webb of Dandridge, TN and Gregory James Steele; his grandchildren, Abbagail, Samuel Simpson and Melissa Turner; and his sister Catherine.
