It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Edward Nivens of Gainesville, Georgia, born in Sylacauga, Alabama, who passed away on January 24, 2022, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his former wife Betty Terrell Goforth; his wife Jackie Marshall Nivens; his parents, James Speer Nivens and Mae Talley Nivens; his siblings, Ernest Nivens and Betty Mae; and his brother-in-law Bob Nelson.

He is survived by: his children, James T. (Kittye Nivens), John A. (Cindy Nivens) and Nancy (David Clinton); his grandchildren, Allen (Meg Nivens), Seth (Dana Nivens), Leslie (Adam Miller), James II (Anna Nivens), Ashley (Joel Snyder) and Laura (Bo McNeil); and his great grandchildren, Sara, Annie, Sully (Sullivan), Ben, Ellie, Elias, Diana, Claire, Olivia and Lucas.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to The Ministry of Caring and Sharing at Gainesville First Baptist Church, 751 Green Street, Gainesville, GA 30501, or Good News Clinics, 810 Pine Street, Gainesville, Georgia 30501 or a charity of your choice.
