He was predeceased by: his parents, Violet Pittman and Garfield Garrett; his wife Yvonne Garrett; and his brother John Garrett. He is survived by: his children, Terry Garrett (Vicki) of Gainesville, Shirley Mote (Rickie) of Gainesville, Joyce Tench (Dan) of Gainesville, James Jr. Garrett (Sandy) of Gainesville, Kaye Christain (Dean) of Gainesville and Gilbert Adams (Denise) of Gainesville; his grandchildren, Matthew Garrett, Dustin Tench (Leah), T. G. Mote (Whitney), Andy Tench (Brittany), Cody Mote (Jackie), Kyle Garrett (Ashley Born) and Trey Garrett; his siblings, Bob Garrett, Carol DeVaney, Doris Smith, Allene Hughes, Leonard Garrett, Mary Jo Murphy, Linda Brown and Billy Paul Vandergriff; and his close friend Martha Harris.
