He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Wood and Bessie Tarpley Wood; his wife Joyce Marlowe Wood; and his siblings, Shannon Wood, Robert Wood and Hazel Sims.
He is survived by: his daughter Amy; his son-in-law Ted Simmons of Clermont; his son Mark Wood of West Deptford, NJ; his sisters, Sarah Chandler of Winder and Betty Segars of Winder; his grandchildren, Amanda Athens of Braselton, Drew Athens of Gainesville, Shaina Wood of Philadelphia, PA, Niija Wood of Philadelphia, PA and Neely Simmons of Satsuma, FL; and his great grandchildren, Emma Roberts of Braselton, Addison Roberts of Braselton, Ethan Athens of Cartersville, Annabelle Athens of Cartersville, Xaira Simmons-Brandt of Satsuma, FL and Toby Simmons-Brandt of Satsuma, FL.
Due to Covid-19, the family requests that everyone attending the visitation and service wear a mask and adhere to social distancing guidelines.
