He was predeceased by: his parents, Julius Henry Bales, Jr. and Dessie James Bales; his daughter Angela Bales; and his siblings, Vickie Bales, Marshal Bales and Justin Bales.

He is survived by: his wife Dwenda Bales of Gainesville; his son Kevin Bales of Canton; his siblings, Connie Bales of Mt. Airy, Terry Bales of Mt. Airy and James Bales of Dawsonville; and his stepchildren, Scottie Barton of Gainesville and Tina Langston of Commerce. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
