He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Abernathy and Thelma Abernathy (Dills); and his sister Lorene Franklin. He is survived by: his wife Pat Abernathy; his children, Marty Abernathy of Hickory, NC and Lisa (Steve Warwick); his grandchildren, Makena Abernathy, Jackson Abernathy, Gehrig Abernathy, Maddux Abernathy and Zach Warwick; and his siblings, Margie Tingley of Cleveland, Doris Abernathy of Cleveland, Bobbie Thomas of Cleveland and Truett Abernathy of Gainesville.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, December 11th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Memorial Park Riverside Chapel (989 Riverside Dr, Gainesville, GA 30501). A funeral service was held on Thursday, December 12th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Trinity United Methodist Church (1141 Charlie Thomas Rd, Cleveland, GA 30528).
