He was predeceased by: his parents, George Revis Butler, Sr. and Lillian Rolline Dews. He is survived by: his wife Mary Kathryn Butler; his sons, George Revis Butler III (Catharine) and Leslie Trenholm Butler (Julie); his grandchildren, Benjamin, Trevor, Brice, Brooke and Caroline; and his brother Rollin Butler (Frances).
