He was predeceased by: his parents, Jerry Thompson and Elsie Denson Thompson; and his brothers, Howard L. Thompson and Robert "Bobby" Thompson. He is survived by: his children, Michael Shane Balkcom (Christi), Daniel Lee, Jr. Thompson (Melissa), Adam Jake Thompson, Robin Thompson (Zhana) and Kacey Cox (Jeff); his grandchildren, Aspen, Katherine, Audrey, Nicholas of Makayla, TJ, Tiphoney, Kati and Harper; and his sister Sheryl Wood (De).
