It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Barbara Leona Haxton in Gainesville, Georgia, who passed away on December 30, 2024, at the age of 97, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her husband Paul Haxton; her daughter Renee Waters; her brother Gene Brand; and her parents, Willie Brand and Mozelle Brockman Brand.
She is survived by: her children, Gwendolyn Kiester, Joel Haxton (Carolyn) and John Haxton (Gwenda); and her sister Rochelle Jones. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Ivie Funeral Home (1053 S Elm St, Commerce, GA 30529). A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 at the Grey Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering at First Baptist Church of Commerce.
