It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Raymond Hardy Matthews of Fort Valley, Georgia, born in Houston, Texas, who passed away on February 22, 2025, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Matthews and Mary Ellen Christie Matthews; and his brother Walter Larry Matthews. He is survived by: his wife Martha Susan Matthews; his children, Kevin Matthews (Lori) and Sandi Whitworth (Barrett); his niece Lee Parker (Joey); and his brother Christie Matthews (Marilyn). He is also survived by seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, March 6th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Rooks Funeral Home (109 W White Rd, Byron, GA 31008). A memorial service was held on Thursday, March 6th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
