He is survived by: his wife Emily 'Sissy Deese Mathews; his children, Brett Mathews (Lindsey) of Flowery Branch, GA, Erin Mathews Root (Ray) of Dahlonega, GA and Ethan Luke Mathews of Dahlonega, GA; his parents, John Mathews and Charlotte Mathews of Buena Vista, GA; his brother Steve Mathews of Buena Vista, GA; his parents-in-law, William and Rhonda Deese of Byron, GA; his sister Lenn; and his nephews, Andrew and Ben Hall of Byron. He is also survived by Numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
