He is survived by: his wife Effie Mae Armistead; his stepdaughters, Peggy Knight (John) and Phillis Ballew; his stepgrandchildren, Jessica Oliver (Jeffrey), John Knight III (Brooke Simonds) and Joshua Knight (Kayleigh); and his siblings-in-law, Joyce Moncrief (Jimmy), Randy Giles and Wilson Giles. He is also survived by 8 step great grandchildren.
