He was predeceased by: his parents, Murphy Ray Sr. and Martha Emerson Ray. He is survived by: his wife Linda Harrington Ray; his daughter Talitha Christie Ray; his son-in-law Jon Hudson; and his siblings, Charles Ray, Sam Ray, Paul Ray, Doyle Ray, Kenny Ray, Larry Ray, Carl Ray and Carol Ray Rutherford. He is also survived by many other family members and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to Paw Paw's Homeless Ministry in care of St. Elmo United Methodist Church, Chattanooga, TN.
