He was predeceased by: his parents, Bill Ables and Denia Ables; his siblings, Winfred Ables, Hubert Ables, Clifford Ables and Virgie Coffel; and his son-in-law Bill Ditmore.

He is survived by: his wife Ruby Ables; his daughters, Gloria Ables Ditmore and Wanda Ables Luttrell; his stepdaughter Vicki Gilreath; his granddaughter Annette Luttrell; and his sister Arbutus Arnold. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
