He is survived by: his wife Regina Jennings Newman Ray; his children, David Ray (Collessa) of Chickamauga, Daniel Ray (Brooke) of Ringgold, Kevin Newman (Melanie Hassel) of Richmond, CA and Melissa Newman (Ian McCuskey) of Nashville; his sister Linda Ray Weaver of Ringgold; his grandchildren, Kerrighan Ray, Carter Ray, Reagan Ray and Hazel McCuskey; his nephew Andy Weaver (Celeste); and his niece Jennifer Weaver of Ringgold.
