With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Derek Andrew Whitaker of Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, who passed away on October 23, 2023 at the age of 40. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He is survived by: his parents, Sonja Hekman and Graeme Whitaker (Cathy); his stepfather Billy Plaster; and his siblings, James Whitaker (Sarah), Laura Whitaker and Jennifer Gilbert. He is also survived by 10 nieces and nephews and other extended family members and friends.
