He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl David Higdon Jr. and Ruby Kathleen Avans. He is survived by: his wife Jonette Higdon; his children, Justin Grant, Shelby McGill (Kalen), Brooke Watson, Bradley Watson (Emily) and Carly Higdon Worley (Marcus); his brothers, Jimmy Duckett (Leslie) and Stephen Avans (Carrie); and his grandchildren, Ansley Watson, Nixson Haskins, Olen McGill and Bella Grant. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and friends.
