She was predeceased by: her parents, Ferrell Glenn Brown and Ida Mae Coward Brown; and her husband Bobby Gray Whitaker. She is survived by: her children, Kenneth Gray Whitaker (Becky), Robert Gregory Whitaker (Maura) and Anne W. Carroll (Russ); her grandchildren, Mike, Chris, Mason, Ross, Jack, Lindsey and Lexie; and her siblings, Ernest Brown (Ellen), Mike Brown (Betty) and Susan Levi (Mike). She is also survived by friends and family members.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or the Woodland Baptist Church Building Fund, 1175 Bethania, Rural Hall Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27106.
